1. Establishment of NGO (NGO named FOSS Malaysia and have delegation member from each districk in Malaysia and from Sarawak is NUMOSS delegation, Dean Nazmuddin)
2. To unite and show a united front against issue that impact nation wide Open Source community. The first issue to be addressed is “Bantah CPB”.

At 29 December 2011 at Bilik Cempaka, PTM (Pusat Teknologi Maklumat), UKM we hava a video Conference with Open Source UKM community run by Lecture and Staff (KOSS) regarding collaboration for some project with NUMOSS.

One of our project is OSS Day, consisting of Training Linux for Kids (using Fedora SOAS), Training Fedora Scientific and Preparation for next FAD @ UKM.

MyGosscon, Malaysia Goverment Open Source Conference is an once a year event held by MAMPU (Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit) team that event has brought together an excellent mix of CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, industry leaders, academicians, open source communities and government officials, providing a solid platform to share ideas knowledge, experience and discuss current issues and challenges in enhancing efficiency and productivity of business and public service delivery.

This event was held at PICC, Putrajaya at 28-29 November 2011 and NUMOSS join the competition, open booth and also be a volunteer.

#International OSS Creative Multimedia Development Competition
Is a pride for NUMOSS can win in International Competition like this, getting the third winner after successfully defeating opponents from various universities in Malaysia.

#Volunteering
We send approximately 25 people to become volunteers during MyGosscon.

#Exhibition
We opened a booth that only IPTA and Student-Run Organization to exhibit in MyGosscon 2011 to introducing NUMOSS to Open Source public.

At the BOF (Birth of Feather) Session, Dean give a talk introduction to NUMOSS.

Self funded Ubuntu 11.10 Release Party at 21 October 2011, actually this release party is adjacent to the Fedora 16 release, we also plan to create a Fedora release party, but we only had time to make ubuntu release party.

Before we start the party with a Ubuntu 11.10 CD, Ubuntu cake, some pizza and non alcohol drink.

Based on vision and mission NUMOSS to train and make sure at least 80% of our members are able to use and actively switch from closed source products i.e Windows to it’s open source alternative in 6-months duration, we have a training once a week (every Friday at 3PM) at our lab to teach our members how to use Linux (our default distor is Ubuntu in that time).

In this training, taught by the founder of NUMOSS in itself, some of senior Open Source in UKM and also from the member who have more knowledge in their areas, because we also have like a discussion at the end of the training.

Why Linux?
Because we believe if you wanna really be an Open Source freak and activist you must be in Open Source environtment and one of the environtment is your Operating System and we choose Linux for it and also when the nattive people heard about Open Source surely they would think about Linux, so after they know about the basic of Linux they can get the soul how great Linux is and they can migrate from Windows to Linux and continue explore Open Source Software that has been available in Linux.
